Well, that was a miserable 24 hours trying not to work on the Bioregional Institute (BI), so I’ve decided to just keep going until everyone starts yelling at me
Me yesterday…
I’ve drafted a potential structure for the BI as an organisation that I think is a solid enough framing for the potential of the work, while also opening space for differently geared minds to find a place for themselves and their innate uniqueness and skill sets, while also giving them the opportunity to contribute this genius to the rest of the work which is critical for the development of the field
Picturing the BI as an equitably owned Coop by the entire regen community as a legal entity that is managed by the Core Team (Regenesis Institute Core Team/Field Team/Task Team framework) and operated through its first asset, the Open Wisdom Library (OWL), allowing us an initial investable project to raise money for while also structuring our thinking as a team of regenerative practitioners with many unique and diverse skill sets
The OWL as a digital Library; I’m picturing a beautiful old grand hall with wall-to-wall shelves of books as the home theme, just as a visualisation anchor for my own decision-making
From there, four wings off the main hall for Field Teams to work on the next internal layers of the whole, focused on OWLe, Projects, Research, and Community
The OWLe:
The OWLe is the regenerative project-focused cohort learning platform
Cohort-based learning can be best suited for leadership training, soft skills, etc., where interpersonal skills become important. It ensures learner engagement and interaction, thus promoting interpersonal skills. The biggest advantage of cohort-based learning is perhaps the presence of a course guide. The guide or facilitator ensures the best possible course design for the participants. The presence of a course guide also ensures that the learners get timely help in case they are stuck or unsure about something. The course guide also acts as a motivator and leads the group of learners toward achieving their learning goals.
The OWLe Field Team will be responsible for the generation of e-learning programs, from micro-learning modules to interactive webinars, workshops, and full project courses, based on the regenerative development projects being delivered in the field by the community
Each learning cohort will be offered training in regenerative development based on real completed projects. The new insights generated by the learning cohort can be recycled back to inform the field teams for the further evolution of learning and project work
Initial courses to be developed while the first regenerative development projects are being generated by the project field team:
Bold Alliance Training (BAT)
Leadership and Participatory Democracy
Ecosystem of Value Reciprocity
Projects:
The Projects Field Team will focus on the initial series of regenerative development projects to activate and resource the BI and establish a network of bioregional learning centres, starting with Bioregional Institute Melbourne
Research:
The Research Field Team will be developing work around what bioregional and community development-focused research is needed to deepen the OWL's wisdom base, and further resource and inform the other Field Teams.
This will be an academic-focused group, developing open partnerships with universities and industry bodies and associations, government and private sector
It will also serve the Project Field Team in opening up potential project opportunities to be delivered and recycled back through the OWL, with profits resourcing the entire ecosystem
Community:
The Community Field Team will work on the social platform for the whole ecosystem networking and development.
This could be ‘Town Hall’ themed as opposed to a simple post stream from the community. Where all updates and new opportunities are posted by all the Core and Field Teams with callouts for collaboration, enquiries and organisation of live events, including the end of project day festivals the Project Field Team will be organising in each place at the end of every project
Call to Action…
I would love to see the individual Regen Places of the Regen Places Network, starting to really think about your own unique essence as a local community group, what potential you see for your future, and what you feel is the right organisation structure to establish as an entity, to take up your role as stewards of each bioregion or subregions
Mangrove Ventures, as a regenerative nursery (Regenerative Startup Incubator), is here to help any team run through our system of essence and potential exploration and open the door for unique opportunities for you as an independent entity
This business startup system was developed through he same system we use in regenerative development projects based on Regenesis Instiutes 30 year legacy of proven work in the field globally
We also have excellent legal counsel through Ursula Crowley and Amara Advisory, Co-Founder of Legal Vision, who will be able to give teams advice from a legal structuring perspective
