That last framework really flipped my thinking on everything, teasing out a draft purpose statement for the Bioregional Institute (BI)
I went for a beach walk to reconcile some of those STOPS (limited being states) in regard to the shared work and its delivery, a little concerned about imaginary deadlines and sprint plans that I had made up in my head, though was hell-bent on keeping for some reason
Now I realise I havnt’t been able to see the forest from the trees and have come full circle back to the beginning three months ago
To build the capacity and capability of people to live and work with living systems
In a way that raises the consciousness and evolutionary potential of the people
So that we reshape our relationship with the living world- draft Purpose Statement
You and I are the people, and so are the rest of the team
We are already living and working with living systems frameworks and regenerative development practices through the work creating the BI and sub-fields
All we are doing with BI is scratching our own itch to codify the work we are doing on, and in, the field together to make room for more and more people to do it together with as a growing community of practice
There are already multiple companies and people as members dedicated to the three lines of work of this practice, committed to a higher order of unique contributions to the field, ourselves, and each other
All this started because a consortium of companies and people wanted to work together on amazing projects and support each other through the work. We then saw that more and more people wanted to do it as well, so all this sort of emerged out of the field, and we continued on to structure something for everyone. Now, the BI itself has become the project that everyone can work on that builds the capability, capacity and future tools needed for us to do more of the work and develop the field
There’s no need for arbitrary ‘launch’ dates or even marketing for ‘customers’ or selling to people… we are the people, doing the work, sharing with each other in a lifelong practice of personal, social, cultural, environmental, and financial development
‘People like us do things like this’ and we are building a home for us all to live, work, and play in together that has an amazing shed of tools and toys for us to play with
I was even the one who structured it as a non-distributing cooperative so that all the genius developed through time could be passed on as generational wealth, yet the reality of this has only just hit home, and Im still trying to shake my capitalist social programming… a cooperative is for its members, and I am one
We are the people, we are doing the work, we are growing the field, we are a community of practice formed around the field of regenerative development, and we are doing it already, this is the work and what will be will be
I look forward to having the capacity to work across all of this with you
Welcome to the launch that never really was or would be
(LEVEL 4) Yay Me!
